Michael Woodhead

My interest in drawing took hold in the mid-1960s after I began buying Marvel comics. I tried copying various styles -- Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, and others -- but found the repetitiveness of trying to draw comic characters tedious. Then I started drawing faeries and other fanciful characters. Eventually, I settled on nudes and portraits, did some amateur work for various businesses, and then began to concentrate more on my music and writing. Although I took a few correspondence classes (and grew bored, thus wasting a lot of money on them), I'm basically self-taught. At times, I used my own name; at others, 'Mischa' [because of the influence from the Art Nouveau style of Alphonse Mucha].
