CAST A SHADOW ON THE WALL

I send a greeting to you all
Invite you to the banquet hall
I glance at all the things that crawl
And cast a shadow on the wall
I recall the times I spent
Holding you within my arms
Your love I know I can recall
As I cast a shadow on the wall

I dream about the waterfall
Where you and I would swim, then sprawl
Upon the beach's sand sea-wall
And watch the whipping of the squall
I remember lonely years
Wanting you and all your charms
I send a greeting with this call
And cast a shadow on the wall

I hold your letter with its scrawl
And glance upon your ragged shawl
I miss you, dear -- my all-in-all
Your leaving I wish I could forestall
I regret my leaving, too
And I feel this new alarm
I send a greeting there with Paul
As I cast a shadow on the wall
