I gaze in disbelief
Upon a bright, green leaf
I connect all the feelings I know
I object to your leaving, but go
Resurrect all the things you find true
And direct all your messages through
The bright green leaf

I wrap a neckerchief
Around a bright, green leaf
I unthread all the soft, tangled twine
And from bread, i make barley-grain wine
And I said I could make happiness
But, instead, I brought only a mess
To the bright green leaf
