How shall I tell my child
How shall I tell my child
How shall I tell my child of Jesus
How shall I tell my child

Tell her how Jesus came to Earth
And of the stable that saw his birth
Tell of the shepherds who rejoiced
When they heard news by the angels voiced
Tell of the wise men who came to see
Jesus playing on his mother's knee
Tell of the time he went to school
How he expounded the Golden Rule

How shall I tell my child
How shall I tell my child
How shall I tell my child of Jesus
How shall I tell my child

Tell of the years he spent on Earth
Showing men of Heaven's worth
Tell of the miracles he performed
Healing the sick, calming the storm
Tell how he preached of God's great love
How the Spirit came in the form of a dove
Tell how he prayed that we might be
Loving and gentle, just as he

Tell how he died on Calvary
Nailed to a cross to set us free
Tell how the sins of the world he bore
How he loved peace instead of war
Tell how they laid him in a grave
And how he rose, all sins forgave
But, most of all, tell her of his love
And of the Spirit from above

How shall I tell my child
How shall I tell my child
How shall I tell my child of Jesus
How shall I tell my child
