MIDNIGHT TRAIN

Here comes the midnight train
A-whistling down the track
I only hope it'll bring
My little baby back
Cause she went away one day
When I wanted her to stay
She had to go
I don't know
But, I love her so

Here comes the midnight train
It's whistling through the night
I long to hold my babe
Close to me so tight
If she comes back on this train
She will wipe away the pain
She had to go
I don't know
But, I love her so

Now, it's pulling up to stop
Is my baby there or not
I can't see her face
Has this been a hopeless chase

The train is pulling out
I feel I want to shout
But wait--is it she
I can't see
Yes! I see her now
She's walking back to me

There goes the midnight train
A-whistling down the track
I'm happy cause it brought
My little baby back
Now, I hold her in my arms
I will see she comes to no harm
She had to go
I don't know
But, I love her so
