SLEEP

I fall into a sleep and dream of things that seem forlorn
And in my dreams so deep I find that, I, aloft am borne
For there up in the sky
What seems to verify
What seems to mystify to the truth is a man

I fall into a sleep and dream of things that overthrong
And then upon me creep some thoughts which I know don't belong
My nerves are now benumbed
And noise my tympanum
To it shall now succumb and inhale mystic fumes

I fall again to sleep and contemplate the fount, Lethe
And then I try to still my mind and reach my belesprit
For to the Milky Way
Dressed in my negligee
I know I do display on my own harpsichord
