TIME STANDS STILL

One day passes by
And time stands still
Watching all men cry
Doing what they will
Making love and making war
Healing wounds that once were sore
As time stands still

One night passes by
And time stands still
Another morn is nigh
Another day's thrill
Sending home young men, dead
Wanting water, needing bread
As time stands still

One year passes by
And time stands still
Hearing women crying
And wallowing in swill
Growing thin, and sick, and pale
Eating grubs and bread so stale
As time stands still

Centuries pass by
And time stands still
Watching all men die
From some unknown ill
Poison gas, atomic bombs
Bodies strewn about in homes
As time stands still

Eons pass by
And time stands still
All men ask why
They follow what they will
Naked bodies splashed with blood
Others laughing where they stood
As time stands still

One day passes by
And time stands still
A new world is nigh
And a new thrill
Man has come alive again
No more hunger, no more pain
As time stands still

Yes, time stands still
